Heart Pony

During our lifetime together all across the country, I always told my little Prince that after everything he has done for me, I would spend my life working towards the goal of letting him retire in a big, grassy pasture, maybe with one little horsey friend to keep him company, and a little girl to come love on him. Though my own paths have changed many times, this has always been my only unchanging 5-10 year goal. My bossy but loveable little man has had a hard time finding friends over the last decade as he moved from home to home with us, and there were even years that would pass without him having much of a job.

Well, it snuck up on me, but it turns out my curly little heart-pony already has it all. Even if he gets a little grumpy with his roommates/adopted siblings sometimes, he has everything I ever wanted for him, including the most caring family (both horsey and human) and his own little girl to love on (sometimes multiple!), with tons of opportunities to play and work and teach and learn.

The little grey hairs on his face break my heart, but he has had such a full life of teaching and learning and loving, and I'm sure he still has quite a few years left in him. I am beyond grateful that he's living the best life a pony could ask for.
